Frequently Asked Questions
We have answered some common questions and concerns below. If you do not find the answer to your question, please check our new patients page or contact us.
How does Wellness Concepts treat age-related health conditions?
We take special care in treating seniors with a gentle approach. We start with comprehensive personalization of your treatment plan. We tailor the types of treatment (chiropractic adjustment, massage therapy, NeuroVascular Release®), the tools (cold laser, therapeutic ultrasound, etc.) and stability exercises to your unique case. We focus on restoring stability to joint structures. Our goal is to rehabilitate your body back to optimal health, not just to make you feel better short-term.
Is chiropractic recommended for senior or elderly patients?
Chiropractic adjustment is recommended for most patients, including those with age-related health conditions. However, we may take a more gentle approach depending on your needs and health condition. There are 5 levels of adjustment ranging from minor manipulation (level 1) to a full adjustment with a cavitation "pop" (level 5). Often our goal with seniors is to achieve full range of motion (level 4) without producing a cavitation "pop" of the joint. We are careful to provide the most appropriate treatment based on your needs and concerns.
What is unique about senior and elderly treatment at Wellness Concepts?
Our senior and elderly patients can expect:
- Personalized Treatment - We always begin with a thorough examination of each patient before beginning any therapy. We assess a patient's current health along with their prior history. Then we develop a personalized treatment plan custom-tailored to your needs.
- Blend of Treatments - Depending on your health condition, we may use a blend of chiropractic adjustment, NeuroVascular Release® and massage therapy along with cold laser, therapeutic ultrasound, electric muscle stimulation, stability exercises and functional nutrition.
- Time with a Doctor - During each visit, we try to give you the most effective treatment possible. Our typical session is 30 minutes with a chiropractic doctor who will perform chiropractic adjustment along with body work using manual therapy and therapeutic tools.
There is nothing "cookie cutter" about our treatment. We are focused on quality of care, not quantity of patient visits.
I’ve tried everything but chiropractic. Why would chiropractic help me?
Medical doctors are trained to treat health issues with biochemical solutions (i.e. prescription pharmaceuticals) or surgery. That type of treatment is helpful for some conditions, but often patients need something more. Chiropractors are trained in physical solutions to health issues by correcting musculoskeletal problems.
Chiropractors are the only doctors trained to diagnose and treat "vetrebral subluxations," a misalignment of the vertebrae in the spine. Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC) can lead to a host of health issues by interfering with nerve function and blood flow. We employ a combination of techniques to correct spinal misalignment in order to reduce nerve irritation, and restore blood and lymph flow. A wide variety of health issues can be improved by restoring proper skeletal alignment and joint mobility.
What does Wellness Concepts do different than other chiropractors?
Wellness Concepts combines chiropractic adjustment with soft tissue body work. We offer a variety of treatments that are complementary to chiropractic adjustment
. Depending on your case, this may include NeuroVascular Release®
, massage therapy
, cold laser, therapeutic ultrasound, stability exercise and functional nutrition. We also perform 5 different levels of adjustment, so we offer more gentle therapy than "traditional" chiropractic adjustment.
Does Medicare cover chiropractic adjustment, massage therapy, NeuroVascular Release® or laser treatments?
Medicare typically covers chiropractic adjustment, but they do not cover exams, x-rays, massage therapy, cold laser, etc. There may be out-of-pocket expenses required for Medicare patients. Please contact our office
for more details.
If you have supplemental / secondary insurance in addition to Medicare, they may cover more of our services. This depends entirely on your health insurance plan. Please check with your insurance carrier for details on coverage terms including eligibility, deductibles and co-pay.
Do you file all the insurance claims for me?
We do file insurance claims on our patients' behalf, and we do our best to verify coverage with your insurance carrier. However, patients have the ultimate responsibility of payment for services rendered. Each patient should confirm coverage with their insurance provider.
Do I need a referral from my PCP?
Chiropractors are considered primary physicians in the state of Florida, so usually no referral is needed. Please check with your insurance company for details.
Do you work in conjunction with my primary care physician (PCP)?
We are happy to work with your current primary care physician. Treatment plans can be sent to your PCP upon request.
What if I don’t have insurance? Is there any discount for self-pay?
We are happy to see patients who have no health insurance. There is a time of service discount if you pay in our office at the time of your visit.
